“Being sensible that I am unable to do anything without God’s help, I do humbly entreat him by his grace to enable me to keep these Resolutions, so far as they are agreeable to his will, for Christ’s sake.” – Jonathan Edwards

Remember to read over these Resolutions once a week. Please hold me accountable!

(Based off of Jonathan Edwards’ 70 Resolutions)

Bible quotes are from the ESV

(Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say, rejoice! Phil 4:4)

*1. “And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed.” – Mark 1:35 Set time to be holy and devoted to God,  make all effort to be first thing in the morning.

2. “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly” – Col 3:16 Read His Word daily and consistently.

3. “… singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” – Col 3:16 Sing praises to Him for everything. Reflect on the words.

*4. “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 Pray for guidance, wisdom, humility, courage and strength, and for God’s will to be done because apart from God’s grace, nothing can be accomplished.

5. To continually seek to help, bless, love, encourage and edify others. Invest as God has worked for me too!

*6. “But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’” – Luke 18:13 Repent of my sins every day before I go to sleep. To always look back on my actions and repent of any that weren’t for God’s glory.

7. “I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” – Psalm 119:11

Always be memorizing God’s Word so I can meditate on it and let it mold me to be conformed into Christ’s image. Memorize scripture so that I might not sin against my Lord.

*8. “Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.” – Philippians 3:12 Do whatever gives God the most glory at every moment in my life; with every breath that God has graciously given me, may they be used to glorify His name forever and ever.

9. To imitate Paul at all times because he imitates Christ, first inwardly then the outward would naturally come forth. To always be glorifying God with the tasks He has called me to glorify Him in, and to never stop until the task is done or God gives me peace to stop.

*10. Repent if I forget to remind myself of these Resolutions, not because I have to keep them but I want to keep them to glorify my Savior and please Him.

11. To not waste time; live a life where I can look back and have no regrets; to live as if I only had an hour left.

*12.“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” – Psalm 46:10

Stop everything I am doing and rest in God knowing he is always in control and God is good, all the time.

13. “You who judge others, don’t you do the same thing?” I am the worst of all sinners whenever I think myself better than another person. When I see another person’s flaws and weaknesses, to remind myself I am no different. Give thanks for God’s plan of salvation, that it is His grace that justifies, not anything I do.

14.  “A vapor in the wind.” To always think about the brevity of my life, how this is the only place I will be able to fight to overcome sin, and life in heaven after. And eternity with God and fellow believers.

15. “The Bereans” To always be open to correct doctrine and not harden my heart to the truth found only in Scripture. I don’t know it all!

16. “bridesgroom” Whenever I take pride in myself or delight in glory to myself, to stop and ask God for forgiveness.

17. To continue to always find ways to help, bless, love and encourage others. And if I don’t feel like it, to trust God to open the conversation, give the words and be the overflow of love from what He has done.

18. “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.” – Ephesians 5:15-16 To always live at my best possible according to the amount of strength God allows me to have at the moment.

19. 1 John 1:9 To always look back on my actions and if any were not for God’s glory, to repent.

* 20. “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” – 1 Cor 10:31 To remind myself to only eat and drink what I need to avoid bad health and tiredness from food coma, which results in wasted time.

21. To never do something that I would despise in someone else.

* 22. “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” – Ps 51:10 When I intentionally sin, to trace the sin back to my heart; to pray and ask God to lead me away from the sin; repent and never stop until God gives me peace.

23. If I ever begin to doubt God and His love, to pray and seek His Word and my life until God reassures me of Him and His love. Then throw the doubts away.

24. To be specific and to the point with my words, not leaving anything out unless it glorifies God.

25. Pray as if God has already answered, don’t pray with doubt in the Lord. Likewise, don’t pray for what God would never do.

26. To never ask for forgiveness if I do not mean it. Pray for God to change my wretched heart.

*27. “”Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.” – Philippians 3:12″ To always grow in my understanding and experience of God’s love and grace every day.

28. To never speak against someone unless I am truly humble and out of my love for God and that person. To always ask God before speaking for courage, wisdom, humility and love.

29. To never proclaim, tell others about the gifts God gives me unless it is solely for God’s glory alone. Don’t brag.

*30. “I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.“- Eph 4:1-3 ; “and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.” – 1 Thess 5:13 To always be at peace with everyone when possible.

31. To never speak bad about another person unless it is solely for God’s glory.

32. Whenever I feel uneasy about myself or something I have done, to stop everything and devote all my time and strength to resolve the problem with God through prayer, meditation on His Word and repenting.

33. To not spend time on nonsense things on the Sabbath day but to spend time with God and the church.

34. To never disobey the government unless it is against God’s Word.

*35. To always be intentional in planning to get enough sleep, unless God wills otherwise.

36. To not sleep if I cannot or it is not for the sake of God’s glory, if it is for my own self indulgence.

*37. To constantly rededicate my life to God, Jesus, as my Lord, and the reality and awesomeness of the Gospel at least once a month.

*38. “I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” – Psalm 139:14 Remember my body, mind, soul, strength, and time are not mine but God’s. I belong to Him for everything and for His glory alone!

*39. “whatever I do, do it all for the glory of God.” – 1 Cor 10:31 To make all decisions based on whether the choice will give God the most glory, despite however I am feeling.

40. To never do anything, say anything thats will cause others to worry or feel uneasy; weird. Unless it is God’s will.

*41. “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” – Gal 5:16 To always have a temper full of the Holy Spirit. That is, Love, Joy… To always check every week and repent if I have not done so.

** “But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.” – Rev 2:4-5 To always check and see if Christ is my everything, my life, and if not, to strive with all my time and strength to make God my first love, my everything.

43. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” – 2 Tim 4:7 To live a way where, when I am to look back as an old man, or even in Heaven with the Lord, on my life, that it was a life well lived, the best I could have done for God. God, please be my strength, and if it is Your will, please make it so.

44. Whenever I am most happy and clear minded, to praise God and thank him for making it so. To dedicate my life to Him, my everything.

45. Anything I admire in someone else’s life, to do everything I can to learn and incorporate in my life, unless it is for my pride and selfishness.
