C: Paul is writing to the Ephesians, reminding them of the Gospel, of what they are now in Christ and also how they are reconciled by His sacrifice, not by works so that no man may boast. According to “Know Your Bible”, the 10 word or less summary for Ephesians is “Christians are all members of Jesus’ body.” Christ is the head of the church (Eph. 4:15) and He reconciled all people, both Jews and Gentiles, to Himself. (Eph. 2:11-18)

O: 1-3 We were dead in our sins, followed Satan and lived in disobedience to God.

4-5 God predestined some to be made alive with Christ, not by their works but by His great love.

6-7 Now the church will be seated with Christ so God might show His grace.

8-10 Christians are all saved by grace so that none may boast. We were created for the good works of God, of which He has prepared.

11-13 We who were Gentiles and excluded from citizenship to Israel have now been reconciled through the blood of Jesus.

14-18 Through Jesus we have peace with Him and each other.

19-20 Now Gentiles are able to be reconciled and become God’s people, of which the plan was preached all along through the apostles, prophets of old, and finally Christ Jesus whom is the foundation of the Church.

21-22 And what is the Church? Saved by grace, it is a body made up of forgiven sinners, men, women, children, built on Christ, who was prophecied through the prophets and proclaimed by the apostles, who were the first-hand witnesses to Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection.

M: Christians are the family of Christ. Every man and woman and child who follows Christ is my brother, sister, mother, of whom we all share the same Heavenly Father. And this was made possible by Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection. “The stones the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes.” – Matthew 21:42.

A: Live as a child of God, because that is our new identity through Christ! No longer strangers or aliens, and adopted through the price of the life of God’s only begotten Son.

1. Turn from my wicked ways and follow Jesus.

2. Remember that every Christian is saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus, so that I would not boast in myself.

3. Greet, welcome, pray, and love the Church (1 Thessalonians 5:25-26).
