John Ch 10 V 1-13

1“I tell you the truth, the man who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. 2The man who enters by the gate is the shepherd of his sheep. 3The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.” 6Jesus used this figure of speech, but they did not understand what he was telling them.

7Therefore Jesus said again, “I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.[a] He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

11“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12The hired hand is not the shepherd who owns the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. 13The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.

.  The false prophets and messiahs who try to lead people into heaven for their own greed will be seen as a thief, and will not be allowed into the gates of heaven. Those of us who enter by accepting Jesus, our savior and only way to heaven, will be saved. God will open the gates for Jesus, and we, the sheep, will listen for His voice and His only. Jesus will call on each and every person who follows Him by name, and will lead them out. We will follow Jesus because we know His teachings and Him through our relationship with Him; through prayer, through bible reading, through fellowship with other believers. Those of us who know Jesus will never follow a false prophet, we will leave them because we know their teachings are false. To those who do not believe in Jesus, they will not understand what His teachings mean, they will only see the Word as many good morals and words, gibberish.

.  Jesus is the only way into heaven for us people. All the people who claim to be able to give salvation and lead the way into heaven other than by God were false prophets. Those of us who really believe in God’s promise will not be mislead by them. Jesus continues to repeat Himself so that we may really understand this fact, when it is repeated to us many times. We will be received into heaven and find eternal life with God. The false prophets have come to gain for only themselves, persecuting and killing those who believe in the one and only true messiah, Jesus. Jesus came to die for us so those who believe will be given life in heaven and an abundance of joy and love.

.  Jesus died for us on the cross, even when we did not deserve His love. The false prophets do not care for their people, when the devil comes the false prophets will abandon their people to save themselves. The false prophets care nothing for the people, except to get their money and praise.

My friend Neilsen talking about the thief/robber: they are people who claimed to be messiahs but were really false, those are the people (like the Pharisees) who took advantage of the sheep, fed their own pride, their own pockets, etc. They sought the allegiance of the people and their adoration rather than pointing them to God.
