John Ch 7 V 45-53

45Finally the temple guards went back to the chief priests and Pharisees, who asked them, “Why didn’t you bring him in?”

46“No one ever spoke the way this man does,” the guards declared.

47“You mean he has deceived you also?” the Pharisees retorted. 48“Has any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him? 49No! But this mob that knows nothing of the law—there is a curse on them.”

50Nicodemus, who had gone to Jesus earlier and who was one of their own number, asked, 51“Does our law condemn anyone without first hearing him to find out what he is doing?”

52They replied, “Are you from Galilee, too? Look into it, and you will find that a prophet[e] does not come out of Galilee.”

53Then each went to his own home.

.  The Pharisees saw themselves as better than all the ones who did not know the law, which they follow very strictly. Jesus was so different from men that even the guards were awed by how different He was. Nicodemus, one of the Pharisees who was able to talk to Jesus earlier, stood up for Jesus, even though he did not testify to what he saw, but instead used the laws they followed as a defence. The other Pharisees looked past this and said because Jesus was from Galilee, He was not a prophet. God shows us how He can do the impossible, to be so wise that the guards would be in awe, not wanting to arrest Him to even Nicodemus, who was one of the great leaders of the Jews. He was able to change Nicodemus’ heart, in that He came to know Christ as his savior. Anyone can be saved, as long as they have not rejected Christ with all of their heart. No matter how bad they have sinned in life, no matter how old they are, anyone can be saved. Trust in God with all of your heart, with your entire life. God not just a part of our life, but He is our life.
