1 Peter Ch 3 Verses 1-22

1Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if
any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without
words by the behavior of their wives, 2when they see the purity and
reverence of your lives. 3Your beauty should not come from outward
adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and
fine clothes. 4Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the
unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth
in God’s sight. 5For this is the way the holy women of the past who
put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful. They were
submissive to their own husbands, 6like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and
called him her master. You are her daughters if you do what is right
and do not give way to fear.

7Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your
wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs
with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder
your prayers.

8Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be
sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. 9Do not
repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because
to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. 10For,
“Whoever would love life
and see good days
must keep his tongue from evil
and his lips from deceitful speech.
11He must turn from evil and do good;
he must seek peace and pursue it.
12For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous
and his ears are attentive to their prayer,
but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”[a]

13Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? 14But even if
you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear
what they fear[b]; do not be frightened.”[c] 15But in your hearts set
apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone
who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do
this with gentleness and respect, 16keeping a clear conscience, so
that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ
may be ashamed of their slander. 17It is better, if it is God’s will,
to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. 18For Christ died for
sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to
God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit,
19through whom[d] also he went and preached to the spirits in prison
20who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah
while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all,
were saved through water, 21and this water symbolizes baptism that now
saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge[e]
of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of
Jesus Christ, 22who has gone into heaven and is at God’s right
hand—with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.

God wrote this first passage to the ladies, telling them the
qualities of a wife, and also as a woman. Wives should show God’s love
through their behavior toward the husbands, so that we may see the
pureness of one in Christ. Women’s beauty should not come from their
outward appearances, but from their inner self.. (Many women still do
not understand this part). It is the things from their heart that
brings joy to God. This was the way many holy women used to make
themselves beautiful to God. God wants women to be submissive to their
husbands, to do what is right and do not give in to fear.

God wants the husbands, refering to us, to in the same way be loving
toward your wife, treat them with respect as they are the weaker
partner (in physical strength) and are our partners in life, so that
nothing will get in our way with God.

God then tells us that we need to live in peace with one another,
have sympathy, love your brothers and sisters in Christ, have
compassion, and be humble. When someone does evil to you, do not do it
back; When someone gives an insult, do not give it back, but instead
return a blessing, as God has done for us. Whoever wants his days to
become more joyful must keep his mouth from speaking evil and also
preaching lies. We must abstain from sin and go out and show love to
one another, because God writes that He focuses his attention on those
that are living lives to glorify Him, and He would gladly answer their
prayers to help them further glorify Him. But when we fall away from
God and more into sin, those are the times when God feels very distant
from us.

God writes, if you are eager to do what is right, who will be
seeking to harm you? Even if you are wronged because you have done
what is right, you are blessed. There is no reason we should fear the
things of this world, as we have the God of the universe always
guiding us. We should always be ready to answer those who would
question us about our faith, with gentleness and respect. Continuously
do what is right, so the ones that are persecuting you will be ashamed
of what they are doing. God tells us that it is better to be
persecuted for doing good than to be punished for commiting evil,
because Jesus died for everyone of us, for the believers and
non-believers, so that we may return back to God. He died an earthly
death but was resurrected through the Holy Spirit. Through the many
believers He filled them with this Spirit so they may also go out and
spread the Gospel to those that have before denied Him. It is by
Jesus’s sacrifice that our sins are washed away, but we are not saved
because of this fact; It is because we believed that He did die for
us. Our faith saves us through Jesus, who is now in heaven together as
one with God.

–  I was able to spend more time reading the Bible today!
–  I am able to do things that I would have previously thought
impossible through the Holy Spirit.
– I feel great this morning, that I was able to do my devotions, the
day looks great!
– Thank God for giving me a great rest, I feel as if I could do anything!

Thank you God!
