Praise God for giving me the discipline to do my devotion right when I woke up!

1 Peter Ch 2 Verses 13-25

13Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, 14or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. 15For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men. 16Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God. 17Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king. 18Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh. 19For it is commendable if a man bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God. 20But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. 21To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. 22″He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.”[e] 23When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. 24He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. 25For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

.  God wants us to submit our selves to the goverments created by men, no matter if they are good or evil. For instance, if our nation were to be ruled by a tyrant and we were commanded to kill certain groups of people, we would be the ones secretly helping the oppressed escape to the best of our abilities, instead of just protesting. Protesting would probably have little effect if the tyrant in question had enough support. God wants us to do the commands of the government so the non-believers would have nothing to complain about against Christians. Live your life on Earth as anyone would, but do not use this as an excuse to begin sinning, live your life to glorify God and to serve Him. Respect and love everyone, the believers and the non-believers. Thank God for everything He has done and will do in our lives, and also pay your respects to the earthly president/king.

.  God wants us to follow governments no matter if they are good, but also the harsh ones. God means to tell us even when we are being persecuted by those around us, we should endure it, “When Peter gave this commandment to the Christians, it was during the Roman empire, when Christians were being persecuted, cut in half, thrown to be mauled by tigers, etc– Neilsen”, for being able to still stand up for God while being oppressed is commendable. But if we are punished because we commited a crime, there is no glory to God in this case. Just as how Jesus suffered on the cross, we too should endure the persecutions and continue to love our neighbors. Jesus never commited a sin, and everything that came out of His mouth was directly from God, which has no deceits. When Jesus was being persecuted He did not fight back. Jesus died on the cross for our sins on the cross, so that whoever believes in Him would have eternal life. By Jesus’s sacrifice we have been saved. For we were once lost, but now that we have come to accept Jesus, we have returned back to God.
